Our Chief Flight Instructor

John Whitford is our Chief Flight Instructor.  As his name may suggest, John has been flying in airplanes since he was a child.  His first formal flight lesson was in 1967, but his age prevented him from soloing until 1974. After reaching the FAA required minimum age he obtained his Private Pilot Certificate.  Over the years John has added a Commercial Pilot Certificate and his Flight Instructor Rating with Instrument Privileges.  He has also been through Garmin G1000 training at the Cessna Aircraft factory in Independence, Kansas. John has accumulated several thousand hours of flight experience as a Flight Instructor right here in Central New York.  He also has extensive experience flying aerial banners, giving scenic rides, flying for aerial imaging and in airshow performances.  You can be confident that John's background and experience allows him to provide the  best training possible whether you are aspiring to a Sport Pilot Certificate or a Flight Instructor Rating and anything in between!
